I'm taking a "2D Design" class as part of my GE requirements at school. I'm actually majoring in music/audio, not visual art, so this is a special occasion for me. The class projects thus far are largely restrictive about the content; we're working with a lot of abstract shapes, still life, and other other very specific subjects. However, one assignment was to create three renditions of an animal of one's choosing, and unsurprisingly, I went straight for the turtle.

I don't recall the exact species I referenced, but it appears to be a Map Turtle; most likely Graptemys pseudogeographica. The "Realism" & "Abstraction" renditions were a drawing of the actual animal and a collection of basic shapes, respectively, so I'm not posting them. This "Idealism" rendition was my attempt to keep the main identifying characteristics of the turtle while adding features I find appealing. The original turtle also had a distinctive marking behind its left eye, which I reproduced here.

I originally thought about just drawing Ket in a shell, but that's unoriginal, and it actually strays too far from the turtle's design, believe it or not. I quite like this design here. Perhaps at some point in the future, I'll actually draw some porn of him. ;}
