palette (2009-10-01)
I think this is my only “failed” practice session so far, in that I couldn’t achieve the target of my practice. I attempted to use the distinct green and blue shades to not only outline the characters, but add heavy shading and thus depth. However, the few approaches I tried didn’t work. I also started the rough sketch in Adobe Illustrator for sake of experimentation. Bad idea. Even with the blob brush and the limited palette, that shit was cumbersome and finicky. I moved to Photoshop to create what you see here.
On the bright side, I drew Squirtle porn! This is long overdue. Actually, the subjects featured in this practice session have a special meaning (if you’re curious, ask me in private ;}). However, I want to continue this picture at a later time, with Ket in a more natural position, and with more style abound. Until then, more practice!
Can’t say I’m too curious about the special meaning or anything, I’m just here for the turtle/Koopa Troopa porn. Shame this didn’t go the way you wanted though.
It’s OK. I’ll do it up proper at a later time. Meanwhile, I need to stop slacking and get back on the practice train.
